Many say electric cars are the future, but there are still some problems with electric cars. Here we will discuss some pros and cons about electric cars that may be interesting to you.

To begin with, let us have a look at the positives that make the electric car an attractive and responsible option. These cars can produce far less carbon dioxide on average. Electric cars cost less to operate. They have far fewer moving parts, which means there’s not a lot of things that can break and need to be fixed, replaced, they also don’t require oil change. They are really convenient because you can charge them at home, so you don’t need to leave the house for that. One of the biggest advantages about electric cars is the parking spaces, a lot of places now offer parking spaces with a charger just for electric cars. Another important advantage is its quite sound. These cars simply produce less noise.

Like all things, also electric cars have their downsides. If we speak about less noise, we have to add that it can also present a safety risk for pedestrians not to hear a car approaching. Other disadvantages can also include: higher manufacturing costs and more pollution connected with their production. The buyers can be also concerned with their limited driving range. Tthe problem arises when there are no charging stations around you, as we know gas stations are everywhere and you can easily find them but charging stations for electric cars are harder to find. Charging takes longer than filling the gas tank. It takes approximately 30 min to charge up to 80%. The risk also includes use of high voltage components and cabling in a car that is able to deliver fatal shock.

Most of the problems are connected with the battery used in the car. There can be some safety issues involved. The cars can catch on fire unexpectedly, although the cars are not gasoline powered. Lithium-ion batteries, whether they are in cars, smartphones are known for overheating, bursting into flames, or explosions that can catch on fire easily.

This is also a moment for our responsible choice of the battery with the least negative impact on the environment. More about lithium and other types of batteries you can read in our article about lithium batteries.

Finally, the question you were all waiting for, are electric cars better than gas powered cars?

Well, the answer to this question varies from person to person, it depends, we are all individuals and although some might like the electric cars some may still be old fashioned, still trust and like gasoline cars more. We listed some pros and cons for you so you can decide for yourself, which depends on your situation and needs, but the fact is that electric cars are a future of our world if we find the right way to use them.
