The way today’s generation is having fun is all about playing games on their mobile phones or computers. Overall, young people spent a lot of time being active in social networks. Most people say that they are on their phones, because they want to communicate with their friends. It is quite funny because they choose to be alone with their phones instead of actually going out and having real fun. It is very often that even though they can meet face to face, they rather send a message.
On the other hand, some young people (luckily) want to have fun together rather than spend their free time looking at the screens of their mobile phones. And I think these are THE people, who have come here to St. Marienthal.
And this is the thing I like about this seminar the most. We don’t spend time on our mobile phones, but we play games like small children together and it is a really pleasant change I must say. We enjoy a lot of interesting activities and we have a lot of space for communication, too. We also enjoy our own work at workshops, which is very diverse. Some people take photos, some act, film, or write, there is simply a lot to do. Every country also organizes an intercultural evening, where they show the others some remarkable and funny facts or traditions of their country.
One evening, there wasn’t given any special program. A few people met in the “chimney room” just to chat. The people who can play the guitar started to play and the others to sing. More and more students started coming. After that everybody began singing the Bohemian Rhapsody song. It was a really emotional moment for me, I enjoyed it so much. It was great enjoyment and I will remember it my whole life.
And this is the best thing about St. Marienthal. You collect unforgettable memories and meet new friends. In my opinion, it is the most meaningful experience any seminar can give you in life. Last but not least, it will definitely make you confront people face to face.
