Once a year over 60 young people from 8 countries are meeting for a week in the calm surroundings of the old monastery “St. Marienthal”. Located in the triangle of the polish, czech and german borders it offers a perfect home for this very special encounter which is almost for everyone participating an unique and precious experience, changing the perspective towards other nationalities and within this towards Europe. We feel that Marienthal is really a place where Europe grows together from its very base.
The 2013’s short film workshop task was to shoot a film which represents what the Marienthal network seminars are like and what impact it has to ourselves.
As you can’t dig deeper in exploring feelings and insights doing a documentary, this short fictional film tries it differently. With real actors in an invented story in real locations, we try to show in a dramatized way the insights of participating students in these days. And yep, love and bad faith is everywhere, and without this film would be too boring 😉
None of the participants has had a special film education before, some had some experience. So it has to be underlined, that the great result has only been possible, because of the wonderful team work achieved in this week and the creativity which came out of this. Everyone, from the clapper to the sound engineer to the set designer gave its best to make it a good film. Thanks again to you all for your warmness and your dedication to this work.
Here is to us all, Chris
Final cut from 15th November 2013.
Sorry that it took so long now to publish it but Marius from Lithuania and Chris from Germany have been working hard (via internet) to make the result better looking and sounding… and yes this and our (home) work took its toll.
